Profile: DuBois Center
Why: DuBois Center is the Camp and Retreat Center of the Illinois South Conference of the United Church of Christ. Nestled amidst 330 wooded acres, two shimmering lakes, open meadows, and a network of wooded trails, DuBois Center is an excellent escape in Southern Illinois for all ages. Our equestrian program is one of the longest continuously-running in the area, and we are proud to have offered first-time rides to visitors of all ages – as well as seen many campers grow into a lifelong love of horses! Because DuBois has been fortunate to run continuously since 1965, it is beginning to welcome third- and fourth-generation DuBois Center campers. DuBois is committed to building an equitable, inclusive organization. It hosts camps and retreats for all ages, genders, denominations, and races. Although it is a United Church of Christ camp, it opens its arms to any who wish to come for summer camp. Members have contributed time, talents, and treasures to help maintain the DuBois Center and the horses.
