We are looking for a dynamic and creative full-time Director of Music Ministry (DMM) who holds a passion for vibrant music offerings. Our new DMM will enjoy the collaboration process with the Senior Pastor as well as others in the congregation and on the staff. The person called to this position will also have an appreciation for a wide-range of musical styles. They will create opportunities to share these varieties of expressions by people of all ages and abilities. A bachelor’s degree with professional music training and experience is preferred.
Areas of responsibilities include excellent organ and piano offerings for all services and weekly choir rehearsals and other musical ensembles as needed, including our bell choir; coordinating music for weddings and funerals with families and the pastor; accompanying and directing the choirs; planning special music for the traditional service in consultation with the pastor, musicians and worship team; assisting in the design of and directing the music for a non-traditional worship service which will be creative and experimental in nature; providing music assistance to young students enrolled in the church’s early childhood learning center; attending appropriate meetings including church council and staff meetings. Responsibilities include the supervision of other musical staff and their contributions to the St. Paul UCC music program, overseeing the music library, contributing organizational skills to church-related concert programs, and other community outreach.
Our congregation is one which values the image of God in all people, is inclusive to people from a variety of backgrounds and holds a diversity of perspectives in the church. Through our Fine Arts Concert Series, we understand that our congregation plays a role in sharing God’s presence through the gifts of musical performance. St. Paul UCC is fortunate to have a 49 rank Schantz organ and a Steinway grand piano. We look forward to meeting our new Director of Music Ministry who will inspire us through their spiritual calling to connect our musical gifts with the great commandment to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves.
