St. Paul Traditional Music Ministry

St. Paul Chancel Choir

The St. Paul Chancel Choir is a 25-voice mixed choir that sings most Sundays at 9am, as well as some additional special presentations and concerts. They rehearse on Wednesday nights, generally from September to June, from 7:15-8:45. No audition is required, just a willingness to learn, have fellowship together, and serve the Lord through music. The choir sings a wide variety of music from all style periods, both accompanied and unaccompanied. All voice types are welcome, but we could especially use tenors and basses.

Women's and Men's Ensembles

Women’s and Men’s Ensembles sing every 4-6 weeks and generally rehearse starting the week before they sing. Because of the short rehearsal time, it is important to be able to learn music quickly to sing in these groups, which are generally drawn from the Chancel Choir.

Glory Ringers

Glory Ringers is the bell choir at St. Paul and rehearses on Wednesdays in the bell choir room off the main choir room from 6-7p. They ring every 4-6 weeks. There is no audition, but some basic rhythm and note-reading ability will be valuable.

Musical Instruments at St. Paul UCC..

The sanctuary has a 49 rank, 60 stop Schantz pipe organ which was installed in 1991 in the chancel area of the church. Prior to that, the organ and the choir had been in the balcony of the church. The tonal specifications are listed below:

In 2016, the church acquired a Steinway B (7 ft.) grand piano to better serve the musical needs of the church and the many outside groups that use the space for concerts.
